Clean Truck Check is designed to ensure trucks operate at maximum efficiency for the life of the vehicle. Heavy-duty vehicle owners will be able to complete the required test and deliver emissions system inspection information to remain compliant. The test is conducted using the truck’s OBD system on 2013 and newer engine years, and the snap testing procedure on 2012 and older engines. The snap testing also requires an inspection of the emissions system being in place and operable, with that inspection being sent in with the tests.
Testing Frequency:
QBD-equipped vehicles: 2 times per year, increasing to 4 times per year.
Non-OBD equipped vehicles: 2 times per year.
Agricultural vehicles and motorhomes: 1 time per year.
In order to register a vehicle with the DMV annually, California registered motorhomes and agricultural vehicle owners will be required to test the vehicles and submit compliance paperwork. Your testing date will be determined by the registration month. If testing is not completed dmv will not release registration and fines will be enforced. All motorhomes registered in California will need to be input into the clean truck check portal and associated fees paid.
Every year in January, the TRUCRS NOx Exempt and low mileage compliance needs to be updated to confirm truck maintenance. If it is not completed, heavy duty trucks are deemed non-compliant and will need to be sold. If you have a unit that you're being told you must sell, we Dye's Smoke Testing can support you in keeping the unit depending on what county your vehicle work in. We have experience saving units from having to be sold, and in turn, allowing the operating to return them to daily use. Dye's Smoke Testing also handles the task of creating and uploading your fleet into the clean truck check portal. Once completed, we also offer training and consulting so that you can manage your portal in-house moving forward.
